Pearls symbolize wisdom, serenity, integrity and loyalty. There are many wonderful myths and tales about this precious gem of the sea. It is also a favourite for brides on their wedding day because of what it represents. In ancient times pearls were a sign of wealth and high status. Today pearls often signify a sense of style, good taste and beauty. One of my favourite ‘gemstones’.
Caring for your pearls
The pearls used here are top quality freshwater pearls and should be carefully treasured. After wear, wipe them gently with a chamois or soft cloth that can be dry or slightly damp. Never use abrasive fabrics and never submerge in a bowl of water, especially if knotted with silk as the silk might rot. Also never use a jewellery dip on pearls – it will strip all the lustre and nacre from their surface.
